Seeds

Planting season is almost over for our plants but not for our lives.

As I was cleaning out a spot in my flower bed yesterday to make a place to plant some green onions and perhaps a few mustard seeds, I began thinking that although we plant things in our gardens and our yards that are meant to grow to feed us and to delight us with their beauty, we are also planting things in our lives that do not grow out of the ground.

I am talking about planting seeds of happiness… we can grow smiles so that we warm the heart of someone who might be sad until they see our smile.

I am talking about planting laughter... so that the sound of our joy fills the room and starts laughter in the people around us.

I am talking about planting good thoughts in our minds... so that when we are alone and are not busy, we can retrieve those thoughts and enjoy them for a second time.

Planting seasons for the things in our gardens and our yards are short, but the planting season of our lives begins the day we are born and stops the day we die. Let’s all see how many seeds of happiness we can plant during our lifetime.

The beautiful Moon flowers that we planted in the Spring, the beautiful Texas Star Hibiscus that we planted and even the beautiful and lacy Cypress vines with their gorgeous hot pink trumpets will die when winter comes. The seeds of happiness that we plant will last forever.
