Dry Ground
by Melissa Rives
Do you choose to loose the bonds?
Or swim within the tight restraints… Within the mind our pools of thought Are poisoned by the dark that taints. Move fast against the currents tug That pulls these shadows over soul… To wade through oceans deadly tides Before the waves can take their toll. Find strength within the heart to rise Above the tears that overflow… Hold tightly to the oars of truth, This lifeboat is your own to row. Neglect the thoughts of fools that drown With intellect, yet blinded eyes… For heaven’s lighthouse can’t be found, If spirit is not recognized. Some drift through seas of ignorance Where inner peace cannot be found… They never reach the shore of hope To once more stand on solid ground. Take care to set your anchor deep Within a calm and sunny moat… That when the waters start to swell Your vessel will remain afloat.
